Environmental crime is a rapidly growing global threat with far-reaching security implications. This article explores the potential for NATO, driven by its evolving comprehensive security approach, to play a role in combating environmental crime. It argues that NATO{\textquoteright}s unique capacities, including its Stability Policing mechanism, could complement existing efforts by organizations such as INTERPOL and the United Nations Environment Program. NATO{\textquoteright}s involvement aligns with its focus on countering terrorism, organized crime, and addressing human security concerns exacerbated by environmental crimes. However, potential challenges{\textemdash}such as mission creep and the blurring of police and military roles{\textemdash}must be carefully considered. This article proposes that a targeted and collaborative approach would be the most effective strategy for NATO{\textquoteright}s engagement in combating environmental crime.
